Though never described as beautiful, monkfish have a truly unique appearance. Lying in wait on the ocean floor, they lure in smaller fish using their antenna.
The story of Cornish Waters Monkfish
With cavernous mouths and flattened bodies, monkfish are a meaty – and delicious – fish. This monkfish felt both solid and strange, its gelatinous yet firm body contrasting with rough, sandpaper-like skin and delicate, translucent fins. Both fearsome and fascinating, with beady eyes and needle-sharp teeth, it expressed an eerie attraction usually hidden beneath the waves.
