With the natural world playing a huge part in my creative process, respecting its delicate balance is vital. All my artworks and designs have traceability back to their origins, with integrity embedded at every step.
For me, true success is about impact: creating something with meaning and purpose.
Sustainability
My work isn’t just about creating high-end, one-of-a-kind pieces; it’s about telling a story, respecting the journey of each fish, and making sure that beauty and sustainability go hand in hand.
I’m on a mission to encourage people to pause and consider where their purchases come from, the effects they’ve had on the earth, and the role they’ll play in the future. By taking a fresh approach, I hope to promote more thoughtful and sustainable choices; to breathe new life into materials and ensure nothing is wasted. In this way, I can play a small part in building a better future for my grandchildren.
Inclusivity
Not every child learns in the same way, so I’m a passionate believer in embracing the art of doing things differently. Creative children need an equally creative approach to learning, which is inclusive to all.
I work with schools in my local community to offer children an immersive, multi-sensory approach to learning that connects them to the natural world through the power of art. Using fish allows curiosity to spark, drawing nature right into the classroom.
Mirroring my own process in miniature, children can engage with everything from the fish’s natural history and how it was caught, to the joy of experimenting with colours, textures and embellishments. The experience culminates in a hands-on culinary lesson, where the fish children have been working with is filleted and cooked over coals in the school’s fire pits. It is, without fail, a journey that educates, inspires and excites.
